Ottawa police seek high-visibility bank robber

Ottawa police are asking the public to help identify a man who wore a high-visibility coat while robbing a bank in Old Ottawa South last month.


 Police say the man entered a bank in the 1100 block of Bank Street near Police describe the suspect as white and between 30 and 40 years of age. He is tall and heavyset and is believed to be an anglophone. 

He was clean shaven. At the time he was wearing a large blue sweater, grey pants, and an orange construction jacket with an “X” on the back. He was also wearing large dark sunglasses, and carried a clipboard. Anyone with information with respect to this robbery is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116.Sunnyside Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 24. The man waited inside the branch for a short while, then approached an employee and produced a note demanding money. The bank worker complied and gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash. The man fled and was last seen running west on Hopewell Avenue. There were no injuries
