Boko Haram kills at least 15 people in Nigeria

15 people were killed by Boko Haram Islamic extremists using rocket-propelled grenades and multiple suicide bombers in the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri on Sunday, witnesses said.

In the terror group’s first major attack in months, the militants fired indiscriminately from the back of three trucks and Nigerian troops “intercepted and destroyed” 10 suicide bombers, according to PR Nigeria, an agency that publishes government news.

Maiduguri, the city under attack, is the birthplace of Boko Haram. The militant group emerged as a much more radical entity after Nigerian security forces attacked its compound there, killing 700 people in 2009.
