Student Shot in Harlem While Trying to Sell Hoverboards

Daniel Arathoon was stop in the abdomen and right leg on Friday afternoon. One suspect was arrested a short time later.

Sources said Arathoon and a friend, Armen Tourussian, placed an ad on Craigslist advertising five hoverboards for sale for $1,500.
But the "buyer" had four friends with him when the sellers showed up at a building on W. 138th St.
The suspects flashed Arathoon and Tourussian $500 and said they wanted to test out the motorized gizmos, sources said.
With that, the suspects retreated into a nearby building with the hoverboards.
When they didn’t return the sellers realized they had been ripped off.
A short time later, however, two of the suspects left the building and confronted the friends, sources said.
“What are you doing with your phone?’’ the friends were asked, according to court papers. “Who did you just call? What are you still doing here anyways?”
Then one of the suspects pulled out a silver handgun and fired twice, striking Arathoon.
The gunman, who was wearing a red hoodie and black pants, was still being sought Monday, as were three of the accomplices.
But several hours after the shooting, one suspect, Raheem Adamson, 30, at whose building the sale was supposed to happen, was arrested and charged with robbery.
Sources said Adamson had taken one of the hoverboards and was standing with the gunman when Arathoon was shot.
Arathoon underwent surgery at Harlem Hospital and is expected to recover.
He was too groggy to talk at the hospital Monday, but his mother, Maro Arathoon, said she knew her son wanted to sell the hoverboards but didn’t know much about what happened with the suspects.

  1. Oh my God. This is a very very bad news. But by the way, this product is really awesome but I also know a website selling this kind of hoverboard for sale for only $99 bucks. It is all brand new unit and seller says they didn't bought it, that's why they can sell it for a very low price.
