Dog named Ziggy who was shot in head with crossbow arrow fully recovered
Ziggy underwent life-saving surgery in October 2014 after he was found in Wansford, Cambridgeshire, with the 20-inch arrow passing through his skull.
Miraculously, the arrow just missed Ziggy's brain and his eyes. It was a "one-in-a-million chance" the 3-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier survived, Cees Bennett of the UK's Vets4Pets told the British newspaper.
"Ziggy's recovery was nothing short of astonishing," his owner told the paper. "Within two weeks of having the surgery it was hard to tell that anything had even happened to him."
Ziggy's doggedness has earned him a top honor from the PDSA, Britain's top veterinary charity — Pet Survivor of the Year.
